Hula Halloween

I have now experienced a North American Halloween. Fastelavn (Danish holiday when kids dress up) GO HOME!

Lars and I went out Saturday and did some last minute shopping for costumes. We went to two stores, Laughing Stuff and Theatrics Plus. These stores had an amazing selection of all sorts of costumes!

We had pre-drinks at Neill-Wycik with some of the other international students. Everybody was dressed up in seriously fancy costumes. We had a devil, a cat, Amy Winehouse, a cowboy, a soldier, Batman, spider-girl, a Christmas tree, Moulin Rouge girls, a very unlucky bride and a suicide.

I had picked a Hawaii/Hula-girl outfit.

Later we went to a club called the Guvernment. It took us FOREVER to get in there! First of all the traffic was messed up – imagine Christmas or New Years Eve in Denmark, you can’t get a cab anywhere and cars weren’t really moving anywhere. Furthermore, I had to wait in line with some of the others because we didn’t buy a ticket before we got there. Anyways, when we finally got in I was pretty overwhelmed.

The place was huge! I don’t think I even saw all the different rooms and floors and we were there for 4-5 hours. They had decorated the place with webs and ghosts all over and the were so many people there, all dressed up. Well, actually the girls were not dressed up, they almost didn’t wear any clothes! That’s the North American way… (made me feel all weird about wearing a top underneath my shell-bikini top).

That was a crazy night!

… and a great way to celebrate the ending of integrative week. Friday we finished the week with presenting the findings from our work on a Best Buy case to a panel of judges. It went all right and afterwards Lars, Casper and I went to a bar with the other MBAs to socialize (read: drink beer). It was a good time.

Now I’m trying to finish two assignments: One for my course in Global Markets Technology about Infosys and another one on corporate governance in my Regulation, Government and Social Responsible Management. I really want to get them done before David gets here Tuesday evening.

He’s visiting me a for a week and it’s going to be great! I’m really looking forward to it! I think we might be going up north to a place called Blue Mountain if the weather’s good. Or else we’ll be eating, shopping and sight seeing in Toronto, enjoying seeing each other again :)

First day of integrative week was not that bad…

As I walked with Lars to school this morning I was kind of anxious about how the day would turn out. Today is the first day of integrative week, and we got our case and were divided into groups. I feared that I would be put together with people that were either really lazy or really ambitious!

It turned out great though! I’m in a group with 4 guys and one other girl and everyone is also excited to get to know each other. So I got some tips on good clubs and lounges :P

I basically just had a very good start to this week. We came up with a work plan and some deadlines and I think it’s going to work out great. But let’s see… I’ve done a lot of unexpected all nighter’s ;)

Ups and downs

UPS :D

NOW THERE’S ONLY 9 DAYS until David gets here. It’ll be absolutely wonderful. Especially since Emilie’s boyfriend has been visiting this week and Lars also had his girlfriend visiting before that. I want my love here too!

HURRAY for spending way to much money in Shoppers Drugmart! I was juuust getting some make-up that I seriously needed… But then the sales assistent said that if I got just a little more I would get a gift bag with all sorts of good stuff! So I did :P I had to.

I LOVE MY NEW JACKET that I spontaneously bought at Zara in Eaton Centre earlier this week! Now I don’t have to freeze any more and it’s way cooler than my old, blue jacket from H&M.

DOWNS :(

TO H*** WITH INTEGRATIVE WEEK that’s coming up. Tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. all MBAs will be divided into groups of six persons. We get a case and there will be a couple of presentations and then it starts. By Thursday at 8 p.m. we’re handing in a 20 page paper on the case + a powerpoint presentation. We will then be presenting on Friday morning/afternoon (and I still don’t have any fancy business cloths to wear for this one – that is by the way expected!)

DAMN THE 4 ASSIGNMENTS that I have to hand in by the end of the coming week. With halloween in the weekend + cleaning + maybe sleeping and eating it’ll be busy! Like a whole weekend of costume parties isn’t bad enough as it is…

Well, well, well – more ups than downs! :)
