Eating together – Lasagne night, b-day and Thanksgiving dinner

These last days have been all about eating together. For a long time everyone in my unit has been cooking on their own (even though we most of the time cook at the same time). But last week Lars, Pil, Kirstine and I decided to get together and make lasagne :)

Then Friday it was Kirstines birthday. To make her forget a little bit about that she is getting older and to give her a good start, Pil and I got up and made a totally delicious brunch for her.

We also had cake later :P And in the evening we went out to an absolutely fantastic Vietnamese restaurant called Hanoi 3 Seasons. Wonderful service and everybody had a good time. I think we were around 20 people there, us and a lot of the other international students.

Last but definately not least, it was Thanksgiving this weekend so Sunday night we had invited Katharina from Austria, Stefan and Hendrik from Germany (now, they didn’t come all the way from Europe to eat with us, they’re also staying at Neill Wycik) and Arndis and Gretar to come and join me, Kirstine, Emilie and Pil for stuffed turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. It was soooo great! And tonight we enjoyed the leftovers :P

We felt really stuffed after the great feast!

I really enjoyed all the eating together and I think we’ll definately do that more often from now on…

School has started + weekend get-away in Montréal

Pheeww.. Had a very busy week last week! I had thought that the first week of school would be very nice and easy. But I had a challenge: To follow or not to follow a finance class. Well, I got so scared and went with a less frightening course: Regulation, government and socially responsible management.

This decision was not made until Thursday night at around 10.30 though. This was around the same time I realised that I had to start packing for the trip arranged by some of the other international students to Montréal the following day. I had also been in doubt of whether to go on this trip or not since starting school actually stressed me out a bit (some would say A LOT).

It would from an academic perspective probably have been better to stay home, read the new books and get everything in place. At the same time I felt the need for a small adventure.

So off I went to Montréal :)

Thomas from Austria was the great tour guide. He and some of his fellow Austrians rented two cars and reserved rooms for us all at a great hostel in Montréal. Friday morning at 9. a.m Thomas and the other driver, Katharina (also from Austria), picked us up and the road trip was on :)

Montréal is a great city! I looooove the Frenchiness (can you say that?) about it! Funny to walk around in a city where you can stand next to a beautiful Notre Dame-like church and turn around and then look at a skyscraper :)

We went sightseeing to Mont Royal where there’s a great view of the city, had dinner at a nice restaurant Saturday evening, went to a kind of funny club/pub at night, chilled out at the port or harbour on Sunday and had mussels at a nice little restaurant before we went back to Toronto at 5 p.m.

I then spent all night coughing :( I have somehow catched a cold (probably because everybody else in my unit has been sick the last 2 weeks :) ). So today, Monday, it’s VERY MUCH Monday! I have to study a lot, I’ve actually not yet opened a book nor read a single page!

So that’s it for now… :)
